We'll Need a Distraction

    As the group neared their destination, they spotted a large, blue, finned Pokémon fighting near the huge stone tower. His large gloves and hat completed the description the Floatzel had given them.

    “Good, we’ve got reinforcements.” Luke said, firing a waterfall at the beast’s leg.

    “Yeah, reinforcements! That’s what we are!” Shimshon chirped, ignoring the glare Irma gave him.

    “What do we do?” Brexio asked. “I already filled my plan-making quota for the day.”

    “Maybe if we get enough brute force around a combined attack, we can stagger this thing,” Luke rumbled. “Follow my lead.”

    With a mighty leap Luke soared through the air, drawing his arm back as he prepared superpower. Irma’s claws glowed a mystical blue before she leapt up beside him to strike. Brexio cracked his neck before firing a concentrated flamethrower at the thing’s...face. Magda curled into a tight ball and crashed into its foot, aided by a drunken whimsicott clutching a bottle of alcohol who clumsily summoned powerful strands of grass to inch up the Pokémon’s legs, and struggle against it. A marowak hurled its bone at the creature, pausing when the bone ricocheted back to him only to fling it back. Many other Pokémon joined in the fight, adding attacks made of dazzling light, sparkling water, and sizzling electricity. Their efforts were rewarded when the mighty beast groaned, swayed, then stumbled and crashed to the ground.

    A collective cheer rose up from the crowd of Pokémon. The beast had been felled, taking part of a large portion of a building with it. Several Pokémon were still on edge, poised to attack once more. It was impossible to defeat something of this size so easily. The monster’s eyes flickered a rainbow of colors, before it slowly started to rise to its feet again. The cheers died out abruptly. Its head swung from side to side as it tried to decide on a target.

    “Naw, really?” Brexio asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “No, that’s okay, just GET BACK UP! IT’S NOT LIKE WE WORKED HARD OR ANYTHING!”

    “I think… We need another plan. A better plan.” Luke stammered.

    “We can still lure it to the edge of the city.” Magda deduced. “Let’s get on that.”

    “Everyone head north to the outskirts of town, we're gonna bring this thing to you!” Luke shouted to a group of Pokémon.

    “Good plan.” Brexio agreed, his hand coming to rest on Maggie’s head.

    “We’ll need a distraction. Bait, if you please.” she asserted.

    “We need someone annoying who can attract attention,” Brexio pondered.

    “Someone limber who can get away...” Maggie added.

    Irma’s eyes flew open as she came to a conclusion. She knew the perfect Pokémon for the job.
